so I kind of don't like how there are separate forums for technology, general, etc. and I wish I could just view all threads on one page in a big list, sorted by last reply obviously. and with a column with whatever "category" or forum they'd show up in normally.
and then of course the option of filtering this list by category would be neat. now that I think about it, this seems like the best of both worlds. you get the ability to categorize threads into different subjects, but you're able to view all updated threads at once without clicking on each forum that's been updated (I guess a "show new posts" feature is kind of like this too, but being able to view stuff from different forums that isn't necessarily brand new is nice too).
thoughts?

(kinda like how the categories on my blog work:
http://www.thehomerow.net/blog.php but with thread titles and info instead of blog posts obviously)
seems kind of like gmail's use of labels instead of folders
you really love that lemmingtrail board, huh?
yeah, i could dig on an aggregation. i think maybe it has less to do with the software and more with the fact that ttf doesn't run through enough threads to warrant multiple thread categories.
however, i think there are people here who only check "general" and "technology." so i don't think they would like an aggregate-only ttf.
i'll think about some of the options. this is kinda related to my request for new ttf designs (both graphics and interface)! i kinda want to get some books on interface design and next level this guy. there are so many feature i want to make for ttf, too... i'm really caught up on this damn utf-8/revisions thing, though. :(

know what would be even neater? to be able to "subscribe" to certain forums/categories and automatically have only threads in those categories listed. this would be a really neat system to customize the hell out of and let people choose a big list of all threads, threads from certain categories, the current setup with separate forums, etc.
I saw some book at the library about web design/layout and it looked really interesting because it strictly focuses on the visual aspect of design and not code at all. I'll grab the title tomorrow if I remember.

and I'm not familiar with Gmail's system, but it sounds similar.
this is the only book i've seen:
http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/designinterfaces/
ultimately, this all depends on feedback from ttf users, and the more the better.
something to definitely consider, though, asemi.

I think it could be done in a way that it would barely impact users at all, if they don't want it to.
that book looks interesting. I could use some better design skills.
Chiken
Don't Let Your Walls Down
this could be crazy but what if we had a page dedicated to the new threads of each topic. on that page the thread would have the flag (the forum it belongs to or was put in)-title-posts-views
and then after a certain amount of time it gets sent to the forum that is in its flag.
@chiken: sounds like a raw rss feed for each topic, i'd be down for that.
@lucas: (ot) once my class is done i'm down for working on code for rss for ttf
this post has been archived.
well, it's the weekend. and all i'm doing is working on projects (ttf & journal). watch for commits...

here's that book I was talking about.

have a feeling that link is going to get messed up.

guess not!
the book's called Web Style Guide or something.
thanks! i'll check it out.
also, now that i'm done with the semester, ttf is close to the top of the list! (along with editing, painting, reading, writing, music/keyboard, greek, mountaineering, .. .. .. ahh!)

top
since there has been a lot of action on ttf lately, my typical pattern has been to navigate to the index and then open up almost every single forum in a tab. kind of annoying :/.
